School Closed for Parent Teacher Conferences

Details: Lower and upper school parent–teacher conferences are held in November and March. Please see the school calendar for specific dates.  Parents will have the opportunity to sign up on the designated day or through an appointment with the lead teacher.  Parents wishing to speak with their child’s teacher outside the regularly scheduled conferences may do so by calling the school’s office (972) 908-3797 or emailing the lead teacher via the school’s website www.pebblecreekmontessori.org. Teachers will return all emails and telephone calls as soon as possible during the school week.  The school will be closed for half day and school day children on scheduled conference days. We will, however, provide childcare for extended day toddler and extended day primary classes only. Please refer to the school calendar for specific dates.  Times for conferences will be sent home two weeks prior to conferences.   In the case of separated or divorced parents, joint conferences will be arranged. Teachers should not be asked to conduct separate conferences for each parent. Our goal is to communicate the same information to both parents at the same time, as this experience can never be exactly duplicated. There is great value in not having to reassure a parent what was said in his or her absence.  It is important for both the child’s parents to participate in the parent-teacher conference. If either parent is uncomfortable with a joint conference, he/she must contact the Head of School to discuss the details of the situation.  Upper elementary students may sit in on the first 10 minutes of the parent teacher conferences to discuss their progress. The teacher will discuss the details of the conference with her students prior to the conference. The last 10-15 minutes of the conference are reserved for parents and teachers only.
