Mrs. Owen began her career in 1970 at Shockey's Private School in Dallas teaching 3-5 year olds. She also worked at Southern Methodist University in the Dance Department as assistant to Professor J. David Kirby. In 1991, she graduated from Spencer College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and began work as a medical assistant. Following her family's move back to Texas in 1993, she joined the staff at Preston Meadows Montessori. She received her Montessori Certification from MEPI in 1995. She received her certification in Montessori Applied to Children at Risk (MACAR) in 2004.
Mrs. Owen is one of the founders of Pebblecreek Montessori. She is also the secretary of Plano Montessori Associates, a board member of the Pebblecreek Memorial Foundation, and the coordinator of the school's primary program. She is the mother of three children, loves dogs and enjoys spending time in the Rocky Mountains.
