Pebblecreek Parent Organization (PCPO)
s.The objectives of the PCPO are to:
- Promote the development of the whole child in accordance with the Montessori philosophy at home, school, and community.
- To enhance the ability of the school and its teachers to educate our children.
- To raise and allocate funds to support the mission of Pebblecreek Montessori.
- To promote communication among the entire school community.
- To assist staff with school activities.
- To encourage parent volunteer service to the school.
All parents and guardians of children enrolled at Pebblecreek Montessori constitute the General Membership of the PCPO. There are no annual dues. A minimum of three general membership meetings will be held each school year. By April 25th of each year, the General Membership will nominate and elect officers to an Executive Board for the following school year.
The following individuals were elected by the membership on 4/2/09 to serve on the Executive Board for the 2009-2010 School Year:
Fundraising: For the 2007-2008 School Year, the PCPO focused on special programs, particularly science and nature presentations; educational entertainment for children (e.g., puppets, ventriloquism); historical and/or creative storytelling; nutrition; live music; and more. In the fall of 2007, the PCPO's kick-off fundraising drive brought in $5291, with donations from 65% of Pebblecreek families. For a list of past and future enrichment programs sponsored by the PCPO, jump to the PCPO Calendar.
During school year 2006-2007, the PCPO funded construction of a new hardtop play space (the gated area on the school's north side), replenished the wood chip safety-fill for the playground, and purchased folding chairs and a mobile chair rack for special events at the school.
The PCPO coordinates and staffs the Book Fair and helps plan the Spring Picnic. A parent volunteer also serves as School Yearbook editor.
PCPO Room Representatives ("Room Moms") act as a liaison between the PCPO and parents, as well as between teachers and parents. They facilitate communication, coordinate volunteers, assist teachers as requested, and generally support both PCPO and school events. In May, teachers approach parents who might be interested in serving as a class ro
om representative for the following school year.
Parents: Please keep both the school front office and your class room mom up-to-date on your current e-mail address(es).
To get involved:
- The PCPO welcomes inquiries about open positions on the executive board and committees.
