Updated uniform policy 10/07

October 12, 2007

From the Director’s Desk

Dear Pebblecreek Parents and Legal Guardians,

On Monday, October 1st, the Board of Directors met with the uniform committee and other interested parties to discuss issues related to the Pebblecreek’s uniform dress code. The meeting was very productive. Thank you to all of you who attended and to all of you who sent your input to me via email. The following decisions were made:

Toddlers:

  • We will allow the toddlers to wear a navy t shirt w/ embroidered logo on the chest. The white polo will still be an option as well.
    • Girls will be permitted to wear khaki pants (pull-up) in the cooler weather. We will allow a specific brand and style which must be purchased at Academic Outfitters.
    • The toddlers will continue to wear the Croc brand shoes through the winter months. The teachers did not feel tennis shoes were a necessary option. We will revisit this option should the weather become an issue.
    • We will allow the toddlers who are transitioning into primary to continue to wear their toddler uniforms until they outgrow them or wear them out.

Primary:

  • Girls will be allowed to wear khaki uniform pants year round, but we recommend the skorts. All pants must be proper uniform attire.
  • Girls will be allowed to wear saddle oxfords from Academic Outfitters or Keds leather saddle shoes which can be purchased through AO or through www.keds.com

Spirit Shirt Fridays:  All students may wear Pebblecreek Memorial Foundation shirts, golf tournament shirts, PE shirts, or PCM soccer shirts with uniform pants and uniforms shoes every Friday.

The school will grandfather the uniform dress code until July 1st  2008 at which time all students will be required to be in the proper uniform attire. This accommodation is a courtesy to all parents who have invested money in uniforms. We will allow the children to continue to wear uniforms items from last year if they fit properly and are in good condition.

All uniforms must meet the fingertip rule, meaning that each skirt, skort, short, or jumper must be an appropriate length which is considered as long as a child’s fingertips when their hands are placed by their side.

    Parent Advisory Board

The PCM’s Board of Directors has approved the recommendation to form a parent advisory board. The board will be formed based on our belief that ever member of our school community, regardless of age, has the right to be heard and respected. We believe that those matters that affect individuals in the community, affect the community at large. Parents will be invited to serve on the advisory board to review and  give open and honest input on school issues at quarterly board meetings allowing them to participate in the decision making process. The Board of Directors has identified a group of individuals whom they believe are in touch with the school community and has the ability to consider the impact of decisions on the whole school community
