Extended Day Program

Lower School

The extended day calendar deviates from the AISD calendar the other programs follow.  The program runs 12 months a year, closing for federal holidays and winter break only.

Primary Extended Day (3 - 6 years)

This program is designed to accommodate children of working parents who spend a longer period of time at school.  By combining all extended-day students in one classroom, transitional times are limited, allowing them to feel more relaxed and secure with little change in their daily routine.  The program combines the stimulation of the traditional Montessori environment with the comfort of a home-like setting, and students operate much like a family unit.  The Montessori work cycle is extended beyond the traditional three hours to include cooking, gardening, Spanish, and science.  A sample daily schedule in the extended day primary class.

Toddler-Transition and Toddler Extended Day (12 - 36 months)

These programs are incorporated into the partial-day toddler classes.  Toddlers transition into the dedicated primary-level extended day classroom around the time of their third birthday.

Infant Extended Day (Newborn - 12 months)

Currently, the majority of our infants are enrolled in the extended day program.  All infants regardless of their schedule share the same room.

Elementary School
